Get your content into shape

What I've done:

I have over 14 years' experience as a proofreader and copy editor. I have worked on publications as diverse as a historical guide to London's cemeteries and a design-led book about Tokyo, as well as regular work on a series of well-being books. In addition to print, I have worked as a freelance sub-editor on children's magazines using InDesign, and can work directly on website pages if needed.

I also work with authors to get their manuscripts finished and submission-ready, from a structural copy edit to a final proofread before it’s sent out to agents or publishers. I love working collaboratively with authors to tighten up their prose, re-shape the narrative if necessary or offer suggestions on character development. As an author myself I know how challenging the editing process can be, so I always give positive, constructive feedback and criticism. It takes courage to send your work out to someone else - I want you to feel safe, as well as offering advice on how you can improve your writing. Get in touch so we can devise a bespoke book coaching package or manuscript assessment report that will help get your book ready to send out into the world.

What I can offer you:

  • Accurate work, and always to deadlines

  • A flexible yet reliable service

  • Creative input in the process of seeing a manuscript, website copy or report through from draft to finished product

  • My ability to tighten up a sentence and my attention to detail mean I can get your content into better shape

Lulah has come to my aid in a couple of sticky situations – one when I needed a meticulous proofreader to recommend to my editor right at the end of the production process. We had a tight deadline and were in desperate need of a fresh pair of eyes. Lulah digested our style guide and marked up all 184 pages quickly, accurately and to the brief she was given. She made great suggestions and picked up tiny mistakes that could so easily have slipped through because of our familiarity with the product. I would highly recommend her as a proofreader. Lulah has taken on press releases for two of my clients and has delivered work that I believe they were happy with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her again

I was going round in circles with my writing and reached out to Lulah for guidance. She got to grips with my project really quickly and did a super job consistent with my brief. She’s professional, easy to work with and with her experience and diverse skills set, can offer a tailored approach to projects. I’d highly recommend to anyone with writing projects
